Can I just say, this dieting malarkey is so over-rated – I’M BLOODY STARVING! I don’t care whether the Dukan Diet is going to make me look like a French beauty within a fortnight, you can only put so much meat in your mouth without gagging (believe me, I know).
So, I’m afraid the New Year’s resolution has gone on the back burner for a while. But please, don’t be too damning when I ask if my arse looks big in this…
Anyway, so another week goes by and more DM people make loadsamoney, with the latest being those nice chaps at Crayon. Mind you, judging by the picture of Mssers Hicklin, Runacus and Brown, poor old Mark Runacus looks like he’s been dragged along kicking and screaming. Come on, cheer up will you – you’ve just made a lot of cash – imagine how former partner Philip Slade is feeling.
Then again, with burly Hicklin and Brown flanking him like members of The Sweeney, Mark actually looks like he’s just been arrested for a heinous crime…
One person who must be pretty cock-a-hoop this week is former Campaign DM reporter Claire Billings, who has just landed the job of new business and PR manager at Rapp, after no doubt finding she was surplus to requirements now that Chemistry is part of Publicis…
Obviously Marco realised there was a PR job to be done after all, having got rid of Bobby Mayes last summer. Admittedly, Bobby claimed to be more ‘new business’ than PR in the later days but he still managed to drink most trade journos under the table – just ask Ian Darby – and those are big drinking boots to fill, so I hope Clare realises what she’s let herself in for.
And, talking of drinking boots, it is my esteemed editor’s 51st birthday today – yep, you got it, Friday the 13th – and he is promising to take the entire DecisionMarketing team out for a slap-up lunch and afternoon drinking session.
Not that it will cost him much, this site is all smoke and mirrors, dear readers. Don’t tell anyone otherwise I could find myself out of a job but I am the one who does nearly all the work around here… DM Subscriptions Team? That’s me…DM Technical Team? That’s me, too… DM Ad Production Team? Yep, you guessed. Still, I reckon I have earned a decent drink up, don’t you?
