Tesco is continuing its overhaul of the Clubcard loyalty scheme by signing a deal which will enable it to distribute reward vouchers to its customers via email for the first time.
The retail giant has joined forces with Eagle Eye, a provider of digital gift voucher solutions, to provide a simple, secure and efficient way to manage its reward programme, with UK restaurant chain PizzaExpress as the first partner.
With existing paper-based vouchers taking up to five days to arrive in the post, the move is designed to meet the needs of its increasingly digitally savvy customers. Using this new system, Clubcard members can now receive rewards from PizzaExpress via email within two hours and redeem them at participating restaurants.
Every online request that Tesco receives for a PizzaExpress reward is authenticated by Eagle Eye’s system. A unique voucher code is automatically generated and a personalised email containing the reward is sent to the customer, so that it can be redeemed immediately.
Tesco online and digital marketing director Ian Crook said: “In order to give our Clubcard customers a great experience, we need to ensure the rewards we are providing are of most value to them. Eagle Eye is helping us to do precisely that. With this partnership, we’re now able to offer our customers same day access to their reward. We can also better understand redemption, helping us to tailor our service to what it is customers really want.”
