Former Culture Secretary Chris Smith – now Lord Smith of Finsbury and chairman of the Advertising Standards Authority – is to chair the DMA Awards 2011.
Lord Smith will oversee the judging process, which involves more than 200 industry experts from client companies, suppliers and agencies, as well as preside over the Grand Prix judging.
He said: “I know just how much a DMA Award is valued by the winners. I’m really looking forward to engaging with the wealth of exciting creative work which always emerges during the DMA Awards.”
Previous chairs of judges have included Adam Crozier, now chief executive at ITV, industry stalwart Wanda Goldwag and film producer Lord Puttnam.
Mike Colling, chair of the DMA Awards Committee, said: “It’s a great honour that Lord Smith has agreed to chair the DMA Awards judging. His outstanding insight and industry expertise mean that he is ideally positioned to guide and advise the judging panel.”
The deadline for entries is September 9; for further details visit the awards’ website. The winners of the 2011 DMAs – now sponsored by TNT Post – will be revealed at the Awards Presentation Ball to be held at Old Billingsgate in the City of London on December 7.
This year’s awards campaign has been devised by the 2010 Grand Prix winners, Archibald Ingall Stretton.
