Bank and building society trade body UK Finance has appointed M&C Saatchi London and media agency Goodstuff to develop a multichannel campaign aimed at raising awareness of the support which mortgage lenders can offer customers who are concerned about their higher monthly repayment costs.
With interest rates at their highest since 2008, many mortgage customers, including those coming to the end of their fixed term deals, are seeing considerable increases in their monthly repayments.
Mortgage lenders do have a range of support available to customers who are facing financial difficulty, with many banks and lenders in the UK recently signing up to the Government’s ‘Mortgage Charter’ designed to reassure and support borrowers through the cost of living crisis.
M&C Saatchi is partnering with UK Finance to develop the campaign to raise awareness of the support that is available to mortgage customers and to encourage them to contact their lender early, if they are worried about making their repayments. UK Finance represents more than 300 firms across the banking and finance industry.
The campaign will run across TV, OOH, radio, print and digital. The first burst will go live this month with a second following in September.
M&C Saatchi pitched for the project in partnership with media agency Goodstuff, which will oversee media planning and buying for the campaign.
UK Finance director of campaigns Giles Mason said: “Supporting customers is a core objective for our members, and in the current economic climate, it’s important to raise awareness of the help borrowers can get if they’re worried about making their mortgage repayments. Through this campaign we are encouraging mortgage customers to reach out to their lender early on to get the support they need.”
