1m Apple IDs ‘liberated from FBI’

Hackers have leaked more than 1 million Apple user IDs, claimed to have been liberated from the FBI, in protest against increased oppression by authorities in the US.
The hacking collective – known as Antisec – got hold of the information by accessing a laptop belonging to an FBI agent, who is named as Supervisor Special Agent Christopher K Stangl.
In total they claim to have accessed over 12 million IDs, but have only released 1 million, although they have removed all personal details such as names and addresses. The details have been posted on Pastebin.
The IDs have been published, the hackers say, to prove that the FBI is tracking individuals. The group says that by releasing so many details they hope to raise as much awareness as possible.
“Why [are we] exposing this personal data?” a statement said. “Well we have learnt it seems quite clear nobody pays attention if you just come and say ‘hey, FBI is using your device details and info and who knows what the hell are they experimenting with that’, well sorry, but nobody will care. FBI will, as usual, deny or ignore this uncomfortable thingie and everybody will forget the whole thing at amazing speed.”
And true to their prediction, the FBI has released a statement denying the claims.
In a statement on the FBI site, it said: “The FBI is aware of published reports alleging that an FBI laptop was compromised and private data regarding Apple UDIDs was exposed. At this time, there is no evidence indicating that an FBI laptop was compromised or that the FBI either sought or obtained this data.”
