Chris Catchpole, the man known as much for his sartorial style as being the one-time protégé of industry creative ‘deity’ Steve Harrison, has landed the executive creative director role at Lowe Vietnam.
Catchpole has been freelancing for the past three and a half years – most recently for Ogilvy in Singapore and Tribal DDB in Amsterdam – since closing his own agency Catchpole & Friends in August 2008.
He started his DM creative career at Lowe Direct in January 1997, joining Tullo Marshall Warren a year later. Freelance spells at Bates Dorland, 141 and Publicis Dialog followed, before he joined Harrison Troughton Wunderman in 2001.
It was while at HTW that he became Harrison’s ‘right-hand man’ and associate creative director, scooping countless industry awards including DMAs and Campaign Directs.
In August 2005, he left to set up Catchpole & Friends, which was in business for just over three years until Catchpole decided to call it a day.
In one recommendation on LinkedIn, Iain Morrison, head of marketing at GLL, said: “Creatives like Chris are akin to the Holy Grail. Highly conceptual, highly personable, highly strategic and oddly, highly aware of the issues clients face in marketing organisations on a daily basis.
“Chris is never precious; he will roll up his sleeves and work tirelessly on your briefs. P.S. If you can, I’d also advise you get the name of his tailor. Dapper just doesn’t come close…”
