Paul Alexander in Rapier exodus

Paul Alexander has become the latest high-profile victim of Rapier’s demise – and subsequent rescue by CHI – with the former client partner and head of new business joining the ranks of those left without a job.
Described by one former colleague as the “consummate suit”, Alexander had been at the agency more than eight years, and has over 24 years’ experience in marketing and advertising.
He started his career at WWAV (now Rapp) in 1988 and spent 16 years at the agency, during which it merged with Rapp Collins. By the time he left in 2004 he was managing partner.
Alexander joined Rapier the same year and has worked across the agency’s client base on briefs including brand and product launches, brand development, web builds, acquisition, CRM and eCRM programmes. He is the brother of Kitcatt Nohr Digitas director Vonnie Alexander.
In one recommendation on LinkedIn, former COI direct marketing chief Marc Michaels said: “I can quite honestly say that I always enjoyed working with Paul whilst I was at COI. A highly intelligent, trustworthy, kind and generally pleasant man to deal with.
“Paul understood all the agendas at play in Government work and was an expert at building relationships with senior multi stakeholder groups. The consummate agency man, he always sought to ensure that we got the best out of the agency and was realistic and pragmatic when the need arose. An expert in his field, Paul could be relied upon for good advice in the direct, digital arenas and against a more integrated brief. He clearly cared about the social marketing projects we worked on together and I would recommend Paul unreservedly.”
