Life ‘n’ Love specialises in sexual aids, supplements and health products through its website, http://www.lifenlove.net/, under the premise of “ideas for health, pleasure and fun”.
But one recipient of its mailshot was less than impressed and challenged whether the company’s database practices complied with the advertising code, because they received the mailing despite having registered with the MPS.
However, when contacted by the Advertising Standards Authority, Life ‘n’ Love did not even bother to respond, bringing a stiff rebuke from the watchdog.
The ASA noted that the complainant had been registered with the MPS since December 2011 but had still received the mailing and with no defence from the company the watchdog had no option than to conclude that Life ‘n’ Love had breached the code.
It told Life ‘n’ Love to ensure its mailing lists were accurate and screened against the MPS, and forwarded its ruling to the Committee of Advertising Practice to inform its members of the issue.
