The Marketing Store’s executive creative director, Graham Wall, is understood to have made a sudden exit from the agency, less than a year after taking up the role.
The agency has denied claims that he was escorted from the premises yesterday (Monday).
Wall took over the role from Mike Cavers in April last year, having initially been appointed creative director earlier in the year. It is understood this was a legal requirement as Cavers’ role was made redundant six months prior to that.
Cavers was appointed executive creative director at Lateral Group early last year as part of plans to boost the company’s creative output. It has since secured a place on the Government’s new creative framework.
Wall started his career at WWAV Rapp Collins (now Rapp) as a copywriter in 2002, leaving to join Rapier four years later. In 2007, Wall took up the role of deputy creative director at Billington Cartmell, where he stayed for four years before being appointed executive creative director at the Savvy Marketing Group in 2011.
When he was appointed to the Marketing Store, chief executive Lisa Bonney said: “We’re delighted to welcome on board the stand-out executive creative director the agency deserves. Graham is a true craftsman in below-the-line, with an impressive record for outstanding creative.
“We couldn’t ask for a better candidate to lead us creatively for the future. We have on our hands one of the industry’s dynamic and brightest talents and a name that will be a fixture in the industry for years to come.”
Wall was not available for comment.
UPDATE: The Marketing Store has scotched suggestions that Wall’s departure was acrymonious. Lisa Bonney said: “Graham has decided that his creative passion is for direct marketing and therefore has decided to return to this field, which is actually where he started in the industry. We have agreed that he can leave with immediate effect.
“During his time with us Graham has led us through a number of successful pitches, recruited some exceptional talent, contributed to broader agency initiatives and has been a valued member of the senior management team. We wish him all the best for the future.”
