Whitewater bosses in sudden exit

Whitewater’s senior management team – managing director Mark Roper and deputy md Paula Ryan – have made a sudden exit from the charity specialist DM agency, where both have worked for a combined ten years.
The reason for the departures is not known. A Whitewater spokeswoman refused to comment, other than to confirm that both have left the business.
Roper (pictured) joined the agency – whose clients include NSPCC, RSPCA, MS Society, Macmillan, and Breast Cancer Breakthrough – three and half years ago from Volume, where he was planning director. Roper has also worked at Banner Corporation and Microsoft, and was part of the MHA Carlson buyout team during the late Eighties and early Nineties.
Ryan had been at Whitewater for over seven years, joining from WWAV (now Rapp) in 2004, where she was an account director. She started her career at Barraclough Hall Woolston Gray (now Proximity) in 1992.
Between them, Roper and Ryan have more than 45 years’ experience of direct marketing. Neither were available for comment.
Whitewater is part of the Involve Marketing Partnership (previously the Direct Marketing Group) which also includes JDA, Millennium, DMS, United (launched last year), and DMP. It was founded by Martin Smith of Millennium Group, who is now chief executive. Former Next chairman Sir David Jones is chairman.
