Busty cozies up to Robert Senior

busty blowsRoll on Bank Holiday Monday, I say. And, it seems, I’m not alone. Even poor old McKelvey has actually had to do some work this week. And, what with the direct marketing industry under a seemingly endless barrage of attacks, he’s been beavering away like, well, a beaver.
In fact, rather bizarrely, he’s been in demand from the media, too. Radio 4’s “You and yours” show were very keen to get hold of him yesterday – I’ve always said he had a face for radio – and he spent hours preparing for a grilling over some dodgy Damart prize draw.
Alas, his slot got blown out (not a pleasant sight I can tell you, girls) so it seems his burgeoning media career will have to wait another week, at least.
Still, one man who already has a huge profile (and ego, so I’m told) is Saatchi & Saatchi chief Robert Senior. To be honest, I’d never heard of him until he started appearing in that Royal Mail MarketReach “Mailmen” campaign, but apparently he’s massive (according to the svelte queen of adland, that is) and a real big shot.
Some say he even reckons that Mad Men’s Don Draper was based on him (hmm, you might need a weave and a face-lift to fulfil that fantasy Bobby).
Anyway, so the story goes, our Don Draper wannabe was quite happy to front the Mailmen ads – you know the ones, “Charming. Persuasive. Motivating. And for once I’m not talking about myself” – after being asked by some wag at Publicis Chemistry.
However, according to my sources – and believe me, they are “very familiar with the situation” – our Robert was not too chuffed when he got on the Tube (yes, even he goes underground sometimes) and saw his face plastered all over the place, promoting “shit that folds”.
Apparently when he turned up at Waterloo Station to find his phizog covering one of the biggest poster sites in the country, he went apoplectic and was straight on the blower to Chemistry’s creative chief David Prideaux, demanding to know what the hell was going on.
However, with Royal Mail’s latest results showing the Mailmen ads have led to “junk mail” campaigns seemingly flying out of the door at every company in the UK, his face won’t be disappearing off the ads any time soon.
Oh the irony…nice work fella.
