Green-eyed monster joins the DM Girls’ Getaway 2.0

Bonjour, bonjour, salut, et gros bisous de la part de la Maison française Decision Marketing à tous les fans de Foxy.

Yep, we made it here in one piece, although, as you can imagine, the DM Girls’ Getaway (Foxy’s French Adventure) 2.0 has not been entirely smooth so far, and, sadly, we have suffered a few bumps in the road along the way.

This is mainly on account of our esteemed editor coming over all green-eyed monster (poor old green-eyed monster) because we seemed to be having far too much fun without him. FOMO? You betcha.

Not that he is staying in his own 1,000-year-old wreck; he has booked a nearby posh gîte, complete with swimming pool, country views and vineyard.

Luckily, it is far enough away that we can’t hear him snoring, but it is still slightly annoying that he is in the same country as us, let alone the same département.

Still, onwards and upwards as they say and Jean-Claude has been taking us on a tour of all the places we need to see and the people we need to lust after. He is also planning to give us a tour of the local marketing agencies so we can claim this back as a business trip.

And, just to remind you, “the Horizon boasts rear entry, a massive dining area, king- and emperor-sized beds, mega TVs, a cinema room, a hot tub, a jacuzzi and the Winegard Trav’ler automatic HDTV satellite system, as well as a robust SuperStructure, powered patio awnings, and an automatic levelling system to boot”. Nice.

One thing me, Roxy and Meggy and Peggy from Skeggy have not brought along, however, are our “summer reads”. We are waiting for Campaign magazine’s annual blockbuster feature which normally goes under the headline: “Summer Book Review: What is adland reading this year?”.

You see, we want to make sure we aren’t reading anything that adland is, as it is bound to be self-indulgent bollocks. We prefer the classics and in France that means Proust, Flaubert, Camus and Hugo (in French naturellement).

Not that we will have much time for ploughing through that lot as we are too busy stuffing cheese, wine and chocolate most of the morning while bashing out the kind of quality journalism you have come to expect from this an august organ. Then we sleep it off in the afternoon. Après le déjeuner, je fais toujours une petite sieste pour recharger mes batteries, as they say round these parts…

Ho hum, we do hope everything is OK back in Blighty. Jusqu’à la semaine prochaine.

Follow Foxy on and Instagram if you must, but don’t get too excited as I’m never there
