Never mind Storm Doris, Storm Busty is hitting the West

busty idolThis week, dear Busty fans, I am writing my musings from a secret location down in the West, please keep it to yourselves, but old McKelvey has sent me on a covert mission to check out the Bath and Bristol mafia, with a view to expanding round these parts.
Well, I say “secret location” but a few nights in the four star, gold awarded Grade 2 listed Three Abbey Green in the centre of Bath are certainly not to be sniffed at.
Not that my esteemed editor has had a bump to the head – he wanted me to stay in the Bath Backpackers Hostel (charming) – but luckily my new favourite printer man (let’s call him Dropshadow Dicky) insisted on putting me up in Bath’s finest hotel.
My palatial room comes with a free trip to the Thermae Spa, too, so, suffice to say, I will be suitably laminated by this afternoon.
Mind you, I will have to sneak out at some stage as Maurading Mike has invited me to the Soho House Farmhouse in Oxfordshire for a slap-up meal – and a few extras in the cowshed – tonight.
I don’t know about Storm Doris but this part of the world will definitely be feeling the effects of Storm Busty for the next few days as I plot my expansion strategy.
Talking of which, I see The Drum (you remember them doncha?) have also got in on the act, under the headline: “The Drum lays out its worldwide ambitions with global magazine relaunch.”
And I quote: “The Drum is expanding the horizons of its European and US magazines by merging them into one global issue to serve its worldwide audience through print as well as digital.
“From 20 March, The Drum magazine will be published monthly, covering global trends and issues, and featuring interviews and contributions from thought leaders in marketing, creativity and technology.”
Sounds impressive doesn’t it? A global magazine and everything. I bet you are thinking they will have to sign a massive print deal for that aren’t you?
In fact I was thinking of getting Dropshadow Dicky to pitch for it until I saw the print run. “The first issue will see 10,000 copies being shipped internationally.”
Blimey, that really is ambitious. Hope they’ve got the Rotaprint R35KM serviced…
