Murdoch, smurdoch…is it just me or is this all getting a little tedious now? OK, we’ve reaffirmed what we knew already, that he’s Doctor Evil, although he looks more like Mr Burns out of the Simpsons these days. One thing is certain; he’s been pretty busy empire building since he was in the A-Team…
Anyway, it seems News International could do with more than a little help on the PR front. Given the company’s self-proclaimed love of the feminine form, they could do a lot worse than follow the example set by Vladimir Putin whose supporters have hit upon a rather novel idea to bolster his political support ahead of the March 2012 presidential election: they have offered young Russian women the chance to win an iPad 2 by “stripping for Putin”.
That’s right folks, in a video posted on YouTube (click here if you don’t believe me ) we observe lascivious Muscovite minx Diana – who already has an iPhone 4 so god only knows what she’s been up to – strutting boldly along in her black suit.
“I’m just crazy about a man who changed our country,” says a voiceover, as the camera pans over her sizeable assets. “He’s a great politician, and an amazing man. He’s Vladimir Putin,” she says, adding that despite the millions who admire him, there are some who “pour dirt on him, maybe because they are scared of him, or because they themselves are weak”.
Later in the video, Diana meets two nubile friends sunbathing by the riverbank, and they daub “I’ll tear [clothes off] for Putin” onto skimpy T-shirts in red paint. The video ends as they rip the T-shirts off. They ask other “young, smart and beautiful” girls to “tear off something for Putin” and post a video of it online. The best entrant will win an iPad 2.
Sadly for fellow lovers of the feminine form, we don’t actually get to see the big reveal but suffice to say this is obviously a family website so the rest is left to your imagination. (After all, there are plenty of sites out there if you feel that way inclined.)
Then again, no doubt the results of the campaign will also be studied closely by those wishing to get on the DMA councils – “I’ll tear my clothes off for the DM industry” does have a certain ring about it…
