Sell-off rumour makes Foxy drool over ‘Marketing Weak’

British men have spoken. Is there anything that can shut the bores up? Sadly, it seems not. And this time it’s personal. Yep, it’s official (apparently), man flu is no myth.

But it’s not just the nation’s deluded men who think that, scientific studies have also delved into the subject, and according to MALE boffins at Harvard Health Publishing, studies carried out so far seem to indicate that ‘man flu’ isn’t just men being dramatic.

Harvard Health Publishing managing director and senior faculty editor Robert (YES, HE’S A MAN) Shmerling said: “In one study reviewing six years of data, men were hospitalised with the flu more often than women. (A separate) survey found that men reported taking longer to recover from flu-like illnesses than women (three days vs. 1.5 days).”

All of which ties in nicely to another publishing company which appears to have caught a bit of a cold – or is it a pneumonia-induced death rattle?

Yep, dear Foxy fans, according to sources close to the situation, allegedly there’s a break-up sale going on at good ol’ Centaur Media. With The Lawyer and Mark Ritson already gone, it appears that even, shock-horror-say-it-isn’t-so Centaur’s marketing magazine (I believe it’s called something like Marketing Weak), the altar mater of the old soak (that’s the esteemed editor of this august online empire to you lot), is on the auction table.

Naturally, I don’t believe a word and am only writing this under duress, although to be fair Centaur is the only publishing company in the world that managed to close down a magazine dedicated to the burgeoning £286bn data industry just as the sector took off. Sloppy.

Anyway, as I said, I am dubious about any sell-off, although in a strange coincidence I did get a rather cryptic email from a group called “The Marketing Week Team” the other day informing me “about a recent change to our legal structure”.

It continued: “Following an internal corporate restructure, MWCR Limited (Company Number: 16310489) now owns and operates the Marketing Week business. As a result, MWCR Limited is now the data controller of any personal data we hold about you (for example, your name and email address if you’re on our marketing list).”

Hmmm the plot thickens.

Now apparently, not that long ago, Centaur used to have more magazines than you could shake a stick at – anyone remember Brand Strategy, No Strategy, Strategy Strategy and even something called Taxbriefs? – but now it is said that you can count their publications on the fingers of, er, one finger.

Still, imagine if said marketing publication was actually up for sale? Anyone got a spare fiver just in case?

Foxy has ditched but is still on Instagram,  just don’t get too excited as she’s never there
