So, dear Foxy fans, push has finally come to shove and I have, gulp, joined Slimming World. Not that I have actually started on my diet yet – I have a big curry night tonight so I’m delaying “the weigh in” until Monday (or possibly Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, depending on how I feel).
Naturally, for the sake of balance, I would like to point out there are other diet plans on the market as well.
But, I must admit, I was attracted by all the Slimming World “free foods” I can scoff and then there’s the “syns” I can also enjoy. At first sight, it appears I can eat as much chicken, mince beef (5% fat), bacon, ham, pastrami, duck, lamb, goat, pork, veal, and venison as I like, as long as everything is grilled not fried, as well as pasta, rice, noodles, and potatoes. I can even binge on eggs like they are going out of fashion.
In fact, it doesn’t seem to be much of a diet at all – just the sort I like; I can also have up to 15 syns a day (including red wine and cheese). So, watch out, I am already feeling like a winner, a synner and a helluva lot thinner.
Still, for all you fatties out there (you see, I told you the diet’s working already), a new study has revealed what the Great British public would choose as their last ever meal.
Quite why Final Duties, who claim to be the UK’s most experienced probate brokers, thought this was a great PR story, only their PR agency can tell us but you might not be too surprised to discover that “home cooked” and “unhealthy” were the two key requirements that respondents wanted the most.
In fact, 48% said their last meal would have to be home cooked, with 36% opting for a restaurant and just 16% choosing a takeaway but a resounding 69% said they would be looking to pig out one last time on an unhealthy meal.
And, guess what, the Sunday Roast has been crowned the nation’s go-to favourite, sitting at the top of the final supper table. Steak and chips was the second most popular option, although takeaways also featured heavily, with Chinese ranked as the third most popular, followed by curry and fish and chips.
Other meals to make the top 10 included the English breakfast, pizza, burger and chips, pie and mash and fried chicken.
Of course, what Final Duties doesn’t want you to know is that it would prefer you all to eat the entire top ten straight away, then you would definitely be a goner and it could handle all your probate requirements.
As for me, well, according to Slimming World, I can eat the whole top 10 as long everything is grilled and still lose weight. Happy days…
