Geronimo creative director Jason Andrews has been appointed by the Caples Awards to represent the UK as international chair at this year’s judging.
The awards, which are designed to honour the best in direct and interactive marketing around the world, were founded in 1978 by DM pioneer Andi Emerson to honour well-recognised copywriter John Caples.
With international chairs in 50 countries, the Caples are designed to reward the most innovative creative solutions to tough marketing problems. The awards have now opened for entries, and an entry-kit is available to download from the awards site, www.caples.org/
More than 50 senior-level agency creative professionals will gather in New York City in December to review entries across 26 categories. Entries will be evaluated for creativity in copy, art and concept – across the entire media spectrum.
International chairs are appointed in more than 30 countries to help promote the Caples Awards in their respective countries. Chairs serve as experts in their home market to identify outstanding agencies and work they believe should be entered.
This year industry veteran Drayton Bird has picked up the prestigious Andi Emerson Award, while UK agencies scooped eight gongs, including two golds.
Andrews has worked in the industry for more than 25 years, in the UK, US and Australia. He is a well-known figure on awards judging panels, having picked up gongs at D&AD, Creative Circle, the DMA, Campaign Direct and John Caples.
He joined Geronimo in June 2010, having worked at emortal, co-founded Personal and had spells at FCB Sydney and Proximity. Before that he was head of copy and co-founder of Basten Greenhill Andrews.
