Argos boosts customer marketing

Home Retail Group, the company which owns Argos and Homebase, is planning to revamp its group-wide customer marketing activity, by adopting a new software platform to improve the tailoring of retail and financial offers.
The group has implemented the Intelligent Environments NetFinance platform, with Home Retail Group Financial Services, the financial arm of the Argos and Homebase brands, first to adopt the module.
The tool is aimed at providing financial and retail offers to Argos and Homebase storecard holders via their online accounts. Under a “My Extras” feature, online customers will be sent personalised messages and offers in response to their retail activity. Customers can print off vouchers and redeem them in stores.
Katie Wilson, head of marketing at Home Retail Group Financial Services, said: “By adding this module onto our platform we can maximise the use of the online channel and make sure our customers are aware of all special offers and vouchers that are available to them.”
Earlier this year, Argos revealed that online and mobile app-based sales, alongside orders through customers’ TVs, accounted for nearly half of the company’s total revenue, delivering £1.9bn during the company’s financial year.
