Genting Casinos, the footballers’ favourite casino operator which has just become shirt sponsor of Aston Villa, has parted company with head of CRM Jill James, despite picking up a haul of industry awards.
Earlier this year, Genting and Marketing Software Solutions scooped gold at the Marketing Agencies Association awards for CRM, while last year they landed gold at both the Marketing Society Awards and the Data Strategy Awards.
James, who has left without a job to go to, has been replaced by Barry Clemmow, who joins from Mitchell & Butler.
Genting was launched 45 years ago and its casinos are popular destinations for Premiership footballers and millionaires alike.
The company runs some of the largest land based casinos and resorts in Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, the Philippines and in the UK. Outside London it owns the Circus, Maxims and Mint brands, while in the capital it operates Crockfords, Colony Club, Maxims, Palm Beach and Mint. Crockfords is the oldest private gaming club in the world.
Genting signed the sponsorship deal with Aston Villa last week. The agreement will see Genting acting as the main sponsor of the club, initially for two years. The gambling company’s logo will feature on the football club’s home and away shirts, while both entities will support each other’s activities both at home and abroad.
