National Savings & Investments, the state-owned savings bank, has handed its entire marketing account – which includes direct, digital and advertising – to FCB Inferno.
The pitch, which started in December, was part of a statutory five-year review. DM activity was previously held by Kitcatt Nohr but it could not repitch for the business as it failed to get a place on the Government’s creative roster, neither could ad agency The Gate (formerly Chick Smith Trott).
FCB Inferno will be tasked with handling NS&I’s CRM, digital and advertising activity for the next three years, with the first work expected to break in the summer. It has previously used the likes of Sir Alan Sugar, Stephen Hawking, Bob Geldoff and Germaine Greer to promote the brand.
NS&I director of retail Julian Hynd said: “We are pleased to announce the appointment of FCB Inferno as our strategic marketing agency, responsible for advertising, direct marketing, digital communications and creative, which will help us build our brand and its values, for the benefit of our customers.”
NS&I is one of the largest savings organisations in the UK, with over 25 million customers and more than £100bn invested. Best known for Premium Bonds, it also offers a range of other savings and investments, including Direct Saver and Children’s Bonds.
