The MAA Marketing Industry Triathlon is now open for entries for this year’s race at Dorney Lake, Eton on Friday July 1.
The event has grown substantially since it launched in 2009 and aims to get even more marketers signed up for this year, although it is not yet clear whether MAA managing director Scott Knox will be among them.
Designed to be a fun day out for everyone in the marketing and media industry, the triathlon is also a great networking opportunity as teams and individuals come together in healthy competition with brands going head to head with their agencies and rival brands.
Last year saw a high number of entries from brand side marketers, including over 20 teams from 02, with Justin Moody from Creston taking the prize for the overall winner of the Olympic distance Triathlon. Other highly placed teams and individuals came from Google, Arc, Sainsbury’s, 02 and RGActive.
With five different disciplines – from 400k swim, 10km bike and 2.5km run, to 1500m swim, 40km bike and 10km run – the event provides the ideal stage for experienced individuals, teams, amateurs and first timers. For the third year, The Prostate Cancer Charity is the official charity partner.
MAA membership engagement manager Tracey-Ann Christian commented: “Last year over 800 marketers joined us at Dorney Lake for a brilliant day of sports and socialising. This year we hope more participants than ever will take part, ensuring competition will be higher than ever. The marketing industry’s social calendar tends to be based around glitzy awards ceremonies, so the triathlon is a chance to get your team out of the office and socialising together in a very different way. With last year’s competitors already starting their training, it’s time to dig out your wetsuits and get ready to prove who the fittest marketer really is.”
