Fraudscreen buys Leeds data firm

andy-boltonFraudscreen, the fraud prevention business set up to combat the £2.6bn first party fraud market, has acquired Leeds-based analytics and data modelling agency Kokino-Marvo for an undisclosed sum.
The move sees Kokino-Marvo founder Andy Bolton (pictured) join the business as consulting, analytics and solutions director; he will head up a new Northern office in Otley, near Leeds.
Bolton launched Kokino-Marvo in 2010 and has over 16 years’ experience spanning analytics, marketing, CRM and risk. He started his career at GE Capital in a client analysis and targeting role, followed by spells at Indentix (now Rapp) and mail order groups Otto and Redcats.
Kokino-Marvo clients include Tesco, Lloyds Group and the Co-Op Bank.
Bolton said: “As a self-confessed analytics geek, this new role is my dream job – combining my love of data and analytics with my client relationship management experience in a leadership role. I’ll also be able to lead the development of new and innovative products to help tackle the very real challenge of customers taking opportunistic advantage of gaps in companies’ billing, claims and lending processes.”
Fraudscreen chief executive Matt Elsom added: “Kokino-Marvo has built a strong reputation for the successful implementation of analytical solutions across multiple industry sectors. That knowhow is of great value both to Fraudscreen and our clients. With Andy, we also have the ideal person to help us maximise the potential of our data and analytical resources.”
Launched by former Experian and Callcredit sales director Elsom, ex-Dorling Kindersley chief James Middlehurst and Selfridges direct-sell boss Victoria Tuffill, Fraudscreen works across the key sectors of retail, insurance, banking, financial services, utilities and telecoms.
The company applies analytics to identify, predict and prevent first-party fraud, which is estimated to cost UK businesses £2.6bn a year.
