House of Fraser plots online boom

House of Fraser, the retailer which sells designer-wear from the likes of Ralph Lauren, Kirt Geiger and Ted Baker, is aiming to boost online sales with a new global e-commerce strategy.
Aiming to improve its brand presence and rapidly scale its online business, House of Fraser has signed a deal to use ChannelAdvisor’s Marketplaces platform to sell on eBay.
ChannelAdvisor powers more than 3,000 retailers globally, including retail brands such as Dell, JD Williams, Kitbag, Crocs, Speedo, and Victoria’s Secret.
House of Fraser finance director Ray Kavanagh said: “Operating from one comprehensive product feed will allow us to streamline our strategy and reduce IT costs and ongoing development work, while having a clear focus in real-time on sales and margin from one simple interface.”
He added: “Knowing that e-commerce experts will be completely managing House of Fraser’s campaigns is very important. We will be updated with weekly status calls and quarterly account planning as well as receiving online strategy advice, all without using our own resources.”
The ChannelAdvisor platform provides software and services to help retailers sell more on multiple online channels including marketplaces such as Amazon, Pixmania and eBay, paid search engines such as Google and Yahoo!, comparison shopping engines such as Shopzilla and Nextag, and with webstore and rich media solutions.
