Ikea goes viral for ‘Corgi dog’

Ikea is tapping into the Jubilee celebrations with a tongue in cheek viral promoting its Facebook page featuring a Royal guard enjoying a sneaky hotdog – dubbed a ‘Corgi Dog’ – while on duty.
The campaign, through Lida, also promotes a flat pack ‘Corgi Dog’ holder, designed to encase the hotdog and available over the Jubilee weekend. The snack wrapper unfolds to reveal a £15 off offer when shoppers spend £75.
Ikea customers can buy the “patriotic snack” at selected stores across the UK for 60p.
Ikea relationship marketing manager Markus Weichselbaumer said: “We wanted to help get the country excited about the Jubilee celebrations with an initiative that combines Britain’s love for our famous Swedish hot dogs, and the iconic royal pet…the result is the ‘Corgi Dog’.”
Lida creative director Nicky Bullard added: “This campaign is packed full of Ikea charm and is a great way to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in a fun, clever way.”
