Lloyd James has become the latest company to achieve the industry’s DataSeal, one of only 20 DMA members to have received the coveted accreditation.
The qualification, developed by the DMA in conjunction with BSi, is the only recognised standard for information security management systems other than ISO:27001 and has been developed specifically for the marketing industry.
DataSeal provides client companies with a credible means of identifying those suppliers which can be trusted with their customers’ data.
The scheme was recently expanded beyond the DMA membership to members of the IPA, ISBA and IPM as part of an industry-wide initiative to boost consumer confidence in marketers’ use of consumer data.
It looks at a number of areas within data security including risk assessment, management responsibility, traceability and responsibility of data, virus/spy prevention, internet/network security, system/server security and data storage and elimination. Security is a very important topic, especially for email marketing providers.
DMA chief of operations Mike Lordan said: “Companies that hold DataSeal accreditation benefit by giving their clients the confidence that they can be entrusted with managing their customers’ data.
“On a wider scale, DataSeal should be a priority for the industry to help rebuild consumer confidence in sharing their personal details with companies. It’s also important for demonstrating to government that the direct marketing industry can keep its house in order and doesn’t require yet more legislation to keep it in check. Lloyd James must be congratulated for its achievement and contributing to the cause of data best practice.”
Lloyd James managing director Lynn Stevens (pictured) said: “We’re delighted to have received our DataSeal accreditation. Data security has always been central to everything we do here at Lloyd James and it’s naturally at the top of the agenda for all of our clients. This accreditation allows anyone wishing to use our services to rest reassured that their data is in safe hands.”
The company offers a range of services, including data planning, list broking, list and media management, data analysis and database management.
