MEC global arm hires data chief

MEC Global Solutions, the international arm of media agency MEC, has appointed Billington Cartmell data planning director Ben Cockrell as data strategist and group account director.
Cockrell will work on clients such as SABMiller, Marriott, Mercedes and BDF, reporting into head of strategy Michael Dick.
He started his career at Planning Inc as an IT systems engineer in 2004, eventually taking on the role of planning consultant. He left in 2008 to join Tullo Marshall Warren as a data account director, switching to Billington Cartmell two years later.
While there, Cockrell developed the agency’s overall data offering by creating analytics functions and developing in house CRM solutions.
Cockrell said: “The development of digital and insight technologies provides the opportunity to take the industry in a new direction and significantly increase the value delivered for clients.”
His new boss Michael Dick said: “In a world of data opportunity but decision making complexity, we need to provide our clients with more assistance in joining up data strategy and connections insight. Ben has the ideal background and skill sets to help our clients put the right data strategies in place, to drive even more effective communication solutions.”
