Ogilvy & Mather Group UK Annette King is one of three senior female advertising industry executives to be honoured by Hearst Magazines UK, as part of its Empowering Women initiative.
Hearst, which publishes Good Housekeeping, Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar and Esquire, will laud King – as well as Diageo chief marketing officer Syl Saller and Dentsu Aegis Network UK’s chief executive Tracy De Groose – at an Ad Week Europe event “Cosmopolitan: A celebration of female talent”, next week.
The publishing giant’s chief executive Anna Jones said: “Annette, Syl and Tracy are all fiercely talented and smart, and brilliant examples of women in the industry doing it their own way. We are delighted to celebrate what they have achieved.”
King started her career at Wunderman in 1992, switching to the agency’s New York office in 1996. In 2000, she moved back to the UK and spent four years running the integrated American Express business at OgilvyOne.
She then went through a series of promotions, including client service director, head of new business, and deputy managing director. King became managing director in 2007 and was promoted to chief executive a year later. She was handed the EAME role in 2012, and was promoted to UK chief executive of Ogilvy Group last May.
She now spearheads all Ogilvy Group companies in the UK, including ad agency Ogilvy & Mather, OgilvyOne, Ogilvy Healthworld and Ogilvy PR.
