Proximity London has tapped into its Asian network to find a successor for managing director Gabrielle Ludzker plucking BBDO Singapore general manager Joe Braithwaite to take up the role.
Ludzker (nee Moss) was promoted to CEO of the London agency last summer, freeing up Mike Dodds to expand his European responsibilities.
Braithwaite started his agency career at Iris in 2003, joining BBDO Singapore in 2008 as a regional account director. He rose rapidly through the ranks to land his current job in early 2015.
The agency said Braithwaite has been pivotal in generating organic growth with its largest clients such as Diageo, Visa and P&G, while winning new accounts like Tiger Beer, Smirnoff and Tourism Australia.
He has also helped BBDO become one of the most awarded agencies in Singapore, securing multiple golds at both the Effies and Cannes.
Braithwaite, who will take up the role in April, said: “The future of communications depends on perfecting the art of alchemy. Seamlessly blending art and science, dopamine and data, content and context to create magic. When I met Gabby and her leadership team, they blew me away with their restless ambition to keep raising the bar on creative intelligence. It’s a mission that inspires me, an agency that excites me and a role I can’t wait to start.”
European MD Dodds added: “This is a brilliant example of managing talent across our network. We’ve been tracking Joe’s progress for some time so when the MD role in London became vacant it was the perfect opportunity to bring him back to the UK. We not only keep one of our brightest talents in network but we also transplant some of the great thinking and creativity that has made BBDO and Proximity such a force in Asia.”
