Pulse poaches Rapp duo as ECDs

Pulse Group has appointed award-winning Rapp creative duo Magnus Thorne and Paul Turner as executive creative directors as part of the new management team and wider restructure and expansion.
The duo have been brought in with a broad remit to bolster the creative work of the agency and to drive new business. They will be overseeing all creative output within the agency, and taking creative and management roles on flagship clients including Emirates, Renault, Morrisons, and Diageo.
Together they bring over 30 years’ experience between them, across all disciplines, having spent five years at Rapp where they worked together as group heads and then creative directors.
They have picked up awards at Cannes, D&AD and most recently Campaign Big Awards, having worked on clients including Unicef, NSPCC, Barclays, MasterCard, Bacardi, Coca Cola, Sony, Honda, and Stella Artois.
Prior to that Thorne and Turner worked for the best part of a decade at McCann Erickson and CDP.
Thorne said: “We wanted the freedom and agility a smaller agency provides. It allows us to be fully involved at every level not just guiding the creative direction of the agency but to stay involved from initial conception through to completion.
“It also gives us the opportunity to challenge ourselves with innovative campaign ideas and to be as creative as possible – in pretty much any medium. And right now the potential, and the need, to put great ideas anywhere and everywhere has never been greater, and at Pulse we now have all the tools to make that happen.”
Pulse Group chief executive Mike Spicer added: “With such established creative talent at Pulse Group, we’ll be able to provide truly industry leading campaigns for our existing and prospective clients. These campaigns will allow our business to go from strength to strength, building our client base and delivering the type of work that will set us apart from our competitors.”
