Puma hires Kitcatt for social media

Sportwear giant Puma has handed its global social media activity for the Teamsport business – which covers the likes of football, rugby and cricket – to Kitcatt Nohr Digitas following a pitch.
The agency has been briefed to devise a new strategy for the range of apparel, including content and brand engagement, covering all its digital platforms including Facebook, Twitter and its own site, puma.com.
Puma Teamsport head of marketing Terence Parris said: “We were really impressed by the strong creative ideas presented by Kitcatt Nohr Digitas. It demonstrated a clear understanding of who we are as a brand, our objectives and strategic focus moving forward and how we can work to realise these.”
Puma has a number of sporting “ambassadors” – including athlete Usain Bolt, Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh and Argentina and Manchester City footballer Sergio Agüero – and it is understood the social media strategy will be built around these stars.
The company was formed in 1924 as Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik by Adolf and Rudolf Dassler. But the brothers fell out in 1948, forming the rival companies Adidas and Puma.
In the past Puma has also sponsored many of the biggest names in world football, including Pelé, Eusébio, Johan Cruijff, Diego Maradona, and Lothar Matthäus.
