It can be a lonely existence sometimes for little ol’ me, toiling away in this front-room “office” while my esteemed boss spends virtually all of his waking hours – and even some of his sleeping ones – down the boozer in the vain hope that he might remember some of the stories he uncovers.
But following last week’s cry for help, I’m cock-a-hoop to report that many of you have jumped on the Save Busty Campaign quicker than you click on Pornhub when the missus is out; it seems I am lurved, after all, and it’s not just you fellas who are after my 38DDs.
I must admit, my “inbox” hasn’t been quite so full since Mr Lida gave me a good seeing-to over his desk last year. Yet even he couldn’t have given me the warm afterglow I’m feeling this week.
Not that I like blowing my own trumpet – I normally prefer to blow someone else’s – but I’m literally being splattered with gushing tributes.
One fan – part of the sisterhood no less – enthused: “All us girls love a bit of Busty. Please don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Who else is going to expose this grubby industry?”
While another admitted that “I for one spend the week trembling with anticipation of your august column. You are as much a part of the DM cyber-rag as an empty box of Kleenex is part of an indecent weekend”.
And, it seems, even rivals are concerned. One wrote: “Save Busty! Despite you libelling me over the years it wouldn’t be the same without you.”
But let’s not get complacent – we’re not out of the woods yet as it transpires the redesign is currently on hold as our web ops expert is on holiday with his mum and dad. Keep ’em coming to busty.idol@hotmail.co.uk – the more the merrier – and you know I will return the favour in the only way I know how.
Talking of keep ’em coming, it’s great see Mike Cavers has at last found himself a new job at yet another independent agency. Having missed out on the Chemistry sell-off, surely this time, our Mike will be able to stick around long enough to see his shares come to fruition…
