‘Eggstatic’ Foxy won’t be nailing herself up for Easter

foxy 414“Happy days are here again, The skies above are clear again, So let’s sing a song of cheer again, Happy times, happy nights, Happy days are here again.” Yep, it’s the four-day weekend at last and I for one am not going to be nailing myself up for Easter – I’m happy as Larry.

OK, it plays havoc with the deadlines but luckily I have had all year to prepare. And, just as I was wondering what on Earth to write about, up popped a very timely email from our friends at the London Medical Laboratory entitled “Easter eggs’ hidden secrets – 9 reasons they can be good for you!”

You see, apparently, dark chocolate eggs can lead to reduced blood pressure and improved cholesterol; help combat diabetes; give you a healthier heart; prevent liver damage; give you a valuable range of minerals, including copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus and zinc; and boost your mental health.

Not only that but the flavonoid epicatechin, found in dark chocolate, can also increase the production of nitric oxide in the blood and lift your athletic performance; while dark chocolate can also boost your mental health; and finally even help fight cancer.

In fact, it sounds like dark chocolate might also be able to silence Donald Trump, stop the war in Ukraine and save the planet.

Of course, there’s always a catch, as Dr Hari Narayanan explains: “Food items with high sugar and fat content are the leading cause of obesity which is a contributing factor in many conditions. These range from high blood pressure and diabetes to kidney disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, coronary heart disease and stroke.” Spoilsport.

You know what’s coming next… Luckily London Medical Laboratory’s General Health Profile home testing kit provides people with a comprehensive check-up of their general health, including diabetes, gout, liver and kidney function, bone health, iron levels and a full cholesterol profile.

Yeah, yeah, maybe after the Bank Holiday. In the meantime: “Happy days are here again, The skies above are clear again, So let’s sing a song of cheer again, Happy times, happy nights, Happy days are here again.”
