In fact, old McKelvey is even threatening to take the whole DecisionMarketing team (well, that’s me and him) out for a late summer drink-up to celebrate.
Even our web ops specialist over in Budapest is getting in on the action. Just as soon as he gets back from school and finishes his homework, I understand he is going to be working on a major redesign of this august website which will blow our lesser rivals even further out of the water. (So, that’s at least 20 quid gone already.)
Anyway, I digress. The Mailmen are back and this time it’s personal. None more so than for direct mail’s most reluctant – yet bizarrely – successful advocate, the one and only Robert “Charming. Persuasive. Motivating. And for once I’m not talking about myself” Senior.
As exclusively revealed by little ol’ Busty a few weeks ago (my 38DDs can be very useful in getting the inside track, you know), our Bob is causing more than a touch of mayhem over at Publicis Chemistry’s art department by being decidedly “Uncharming. Unpersausive. Unmotivating. And for once I’m talking about myself” in the latest campaign.
You see, following his rather embarrassing hissy fit over appearing so prominently in the first, highly successful, campaign, our Bobby has come over all shy (lucky old “all shy”), and is apparently refusing to have his, er, gorgeous face adorn anything that can be viewed by the public.
Therefore, he’s rather conspicuous by his absence on the A5 postcard mailing sent out this week, yet is sandwiched between Blippar co-founder Jess Butcher (who doesn’t look too chuffed to be honest) and Poke chief Nik Roope (who appears equally ill at ease) in the media publicity shots.
Then again, I must admit I couldn’t give a toss whether he’s in it or not. He might think he’s something special but the new crop of advocates make our Bobby look like a rather sad old man.
After all, there’s nothing quite like a few cougars to liven up a campaign, and when you’ve Homebase’s Karen Gray on your side, you can’t go wrong. She can start in my hallway any time she likes. And, if my sapphic juices are anything to go, most marketing directors will be gagging to sign up for a bit of personal marketing and good old Jonathan Harman’s bonus could just put one of Busty’s to shame.
And, as if Karen wasn’t enough by herself, they’ve only gone and got the gorgeous Suki “it takes time and effort” Thompson from Oystercatchers, too; as everyone knows, she really is “Charming. Persuasive. Motivating.”
