So, here comes the August Bank Holiday weekend, and, at last I will be able to get away from this godforsaken office for once. I don’t know about you lot, but every bugger appears to have been away already this summer apart from me and they all seem to have come back with a smile on their face, too.
And, now I know why, with a survey by our friends over at Illicitencounters revealing that all holidaymakers get down and dirty in the bedroom far quicker than in any other situation.
You see, the quickest ‘conversion rate’ for sex is when you meet someone when you are away, with those on their hols having sex on average on their second date – twice as fast as if they met each other at home.
Meanwhile, the second fastest conversion rate is if you meet a potential partner in a nightclub or bar – with sex happening after 2.2 dates, and the third fastest is by meeting someone on a dating website or app – with relationships consummated after 2.5 dates.
These are the most effective ways of speed-tracking the famous ‘three-date rule’ which says that is the optimum time you should wait to have sex to boost your chances of the relationship lasting.
By far the worst sex conversion rate was if you meet someone at work – with sex not occurring until the seventh date on average. No wonder I haven’t had a sniff for months.
Even blind dates were down the list, with a conversion rate of 3.3 dates, followed by connecting with someone on social media (3.5 dates), a chance encounter such as bumping into a stranger on a bus or train (5 dates) and meeting a partner through a hobby (5.5 dates).
IllicitEncounters.com spokesman Christian Grant said: “People have a real ‘seize the moment’ attitude when they are away and they commit sexually far quicker than they would at home because they fear they may never get another chance to sleep with that person. Alcohol obviously boosts conversion rates for people who are meeting in nightclubs or bars.”
Naturally, you can also jump the queue with a dating website, Grant claims as they allow people to connect quickly.
He added: “They break the three-date rule because both parties have made a deliberate decision to seek a new partner and that leads to inevitable short-cuts in the route to the bedroom. Lots of people are also on dating sites purely to have casual sex which is why the conversion rate is so high.”
But what, as ever, has this got to do with marketing? As ever, not much but next time you’re back in the office, at least you will know what your colleagues have been up to on their hols…
