Baber Smith hirings boost top team

Baber Smith has appointed Iris head of planning Paul Kenny as its new planning director as part of the agency’s growth plans, which also see the senior appointments of Lucy Williams as head of retail and Matt Berry as head of new business.
The move follows the appointment of former Proximity London managing partner Emma Rush as managing director in January.
Kenny (pictured) joins Baber Smith’s board, where he will be responsible for the development, strategic thinking and delivery of creative and communication planning across the agency’s clients.
During his three years at Iris Kenny worked on the global accounts for a variety of brands including Sony Ericsson, Shell, Philips, Emirates and Disney. Prior to this role, he was planning director at both Ogilvy One and One Agency.
In her new role of head of retail, Lucy Williams will be responsible for growing and developing the agency’s portfolio of shopping centre and retail clients, and overseeing the delivery of campaigns for key accounts such as Brent Cross and Centrale.
She was previously an account director at creative agency Tomlin Bean, working on retail and leisure destinations including Churchill Square, Brighton Grand Arcade and Cambridge Royal Exchange.
Berry joins the team with the remit of growing and developing Baber Smith’s portfolio of retail and financial service clients. Previously Matt has held new business roles at Crayon London and Kastner & Partners, working with clients such as Red Bull, Budweiser, Police Sunglasses and Chevrolet.
Baber Smith founder and creative director Simon Smith said: “It’s great to be welcoming three highly talented individuals to the senior management team. Paul, Lucy and Matt have some great experience which will really complement our already strong service offering. Their arrival puts the agency in a great position to continue developing and build something really exciting in the future.”
In a separate move, Iris has also lost its integrated planning director Christian Purser, who has left to be head of digital strategy at M&C Saatchi Group.
