Chelsea FC launches mobile app

Fans of Chelsea Football Club will be able to get daily video content, live match stats and player profiles direct to their phones, with the launch of an official mobile app by
Samsung.
The Android/bada app was developed as part of Samsung’s long-standing relationship with Chelsea – the Korean electronics giant has been the club’s main sponsor since 2005, extending the deal in 2009.
The free app can be downloaded in 122 countries and until May 2012, the app will only be available exclusively on the Samsung Apps store.
Fans who pay for a Chelsea TV subscription will get exclusive additional access to match highlights, live audio match commentary and premium clips.
Sunny Hwang, vice president and head of global sports marketing at Samsung Electronics, said: “This initiative is meaningful in that the sponsor and the club work together to bring the fans closer to the sports.”
The timing of the launch could have been better, however, with the club currently experiencing a woeful run of form. They have now won only two of their last 10 Premier League games, drew against second tier opponents in the FA Cup last weekend and lost 3-1 away at Napoli earlier this week.
