Diesel jumps into bed with porn sites for new ads

deiselFashion brand Diesel has revealed plans to get down and dirty with its marketing by becoming the first mainstream brand to advertise on popular adult sites PornHub and YouPorn.
The Italian clothing company claims the campaign – promoting a new range of Diesel-branded pants – will reinforce its proposition as a “sexy brand”.
As well as porn sites, the ads will run on dating apps Tinder and Grindr, from next month.
Diesel’s artistic director Nicola Formichetti, told i-D magazine: “This is where people are now, we live on our phones. I want to go where people are. Tinder, Grindr and PornHub might appear a little left field but it’s Diesel, we can do it, we’re not scared of these places, we’re not high fashion, we are street. We’re a sexy brand.
“We’re going to be the first brand to ever advertise on Grindr and we’re the first fashion brand to be working with Pornhub too.
“We’re a global brand and we need to talk to so many people, so we need to have that clear message but it should never just be about selling products,” Formichetti added. “From race to body shapes, I want to celebrate difference and uniqueness whilst reflecting what’s happening in the world. I want to create a Diesel world in which everyone can be their true selves. Freedom is our flavour.”
Owned by MindGeek, a private Internet-based company, both PornHub abd YouPorn sites rank in the top 175 most popular sites in the world, according to analytics website Alexa. PornHub, which desribes itself as “the ultimate xxx porn, sex and pussy tube”, comes in at number 64, with 45 million visitors every day.
Formichetti added: “We all go on websites like PornHub, you know? So before you start jerking off maybe you can stop and look at our new pants and shoes and, just laugh! It’s funny.”
However, it is unlikely that anti-pornography groups will find the move quite so amusing.
