The DMA is continuing to ratchet up its efforts to attract new blood into the industry by partnering with Glasgow-based Sixth Sense Training, to create more entry-level roles and to help businesses across Scotland find a trusted provider for digital marketing apprenticeships.
The initiative is also aimed at demystifying confusion for businesses around how apprenticeships function, concerns which the DMA claims are impacting take-up throughout the UK.
By partnering with Sixth Sense Training, the DMA insists it can help find jobs for young marketing candidates and also present apprenticeship opportunities to current marketers looking for that next step in their career.
Sixth Sense Training specialises in digital apprenticeships north of the border and is already contracted by the Scottish Government to deliver apprenticeships across several frameworks including digital marketing, data analytics and creative media.
DMA Talent general manager Kate Burnett said: “This partnership enables us to support young, emerging talent across Scotland seeking their first roles in the data and marketing industry.
“We have championed the benefits of apprenticeships for many years and we will now be able to further assist our membership organisations, and wider businesses community, by providing them with a trusted contact and framework to set up a successful apprenticeship programme.”
Sixth Sense Training director Jamie McBean added: “Apprenticeships open up businesses to a whole new, diverse talent pool – people that may suit learning in a working environment, or faced challenges at school, who may even get overlooked for graduate programmes, that thrive in the workplace.
“Most importantly, apprenticeships can also be for anyone – including people that may be looking for a change in career, or people that have been working for several years looking to add to their skillset.
“From a business perspective, they offer additional opportunities to build a diverse team from the ground up, with no learned behaviours that may not complement existing company culture.”
