MEC creates first chief digital role.jpg newMedia agency MEC is aiming to beef up its digital credentials by creating the role of chief digital officer in the UK, handing the role to the man responsible for transforming its operations in the Asia-Pacific region.
Ben Poole has spent the past six years leading the MEC digital transformation across the region, as head of interaction. While there, he has worked for the likes of Colgate-Palmolive, Mercedes-Benz, Singapore Airlines, SingTel, Telkomsel, Chevron, Citibank, Sony and Chanel.
Having started his career at Mediaedge:CIA in 2000, Poole switched to HyperHappen before becoming head of digital planning at Mediacom, where he stayed for just over three years ultimately taking on an international. Poole has been at MEC since June 2008.
MEC joint chief executive Jason Dormieux said: “His track record of working with clients across the Asia-Pacific region to develop their digital transformation strategies is outstanding and we’re delighted he’s joining our senior leadership team in the UK.”
Poole added: “MEC UK is considered one of the best agencies anywhere in the world, with exceptional people that I can’t wait to work with. MEC is all about growing clients’ business through doing great work in an increasingly digital world. That is my starting point for this role, and I’m just looking forward to getting stuck in.”
