Mission to Mars seeks CRM agency

Mars One – the Dutch non-profit which is planning to build a permanent human settlement on Mars – is understood to be hunting a CRM agency to handle a raft of projects, with at least one agency chief ultimately getting the chance to live on the planet.
The Mars project is still in its very early stages, but the winning agency will have little time to sit back and dream of the first mission – pencilled in for 2026 – as funding is still a major issue.
The organisation already has a number of sponsors in the Mars One Business Club, including Sonic Voyage, Byte, and Media Injection. The agency will be briefed to boost this programme.
It is also understood the organisation wants to launch a loyalty scheme to keep potential Global Mars One Community participants in the loop until 2026.
More than 202,000 people applied to become Red Planet explorers after Mars One opened the selection process in April 2013, although this has now been whittled down to 100.
Due to the unsuitable nature of many of the people who have applied, the successful agency will also be expected to commit to have one of its directors to join the Global Mars One Community in the future.
One agency insider told DecisionMarketing: “This really is a once in lifetime opportunity to work on a project that is quite literally out of this world. I can think of many agency bosses I’d like to see go to Mars and never come back but whether they can be persuaded to sign up is another matter.”
