Founded in 2004, the IDM Data Council plays a key advisory role to ensure that the data-related aspects of IDM training and qualifications and event programmes remain relevant to today’s marketing professionals.
Gregory, who has held the position since 2009, was instrumental in the development of the profession’s first ever qualification in data marketing – the IDM Award in Data Management – and of the newly launched initiative for university students, the IDM Data Discovery.
IDM chief executive Mike Cornwell, who took up his role in October last year, paid tribute to Gregory’s work for the council, saying: “Adrian has done a wonderful job.”
Cornwell also backed Gregory’s successor, adding: “James is perfectly equipped to take the role going forward – his extensive experience in the business intelligence arena makes him one of the UK’s top data marketing professionals.
“His insight and expertise will be invaluable to the IDM and his considerable personal qualities will ensure that he always does what’s best for our members.”
Morgan said: “Adrian has been a superb chair and we will continue working to promote data marketing as a rewarding and exciting career, and help establish data as a key management discipline.”
