Former Fuel Data chief Charles Ping has been appointed managing director of Winterberry Group, as the New York-based marketing management consultancy expands into the EMEA region.
Launched in 1999, Winterberry focuses on the marketing, advertising, data and technology sectors and specialises in growth strategy, digital transformation and commercial diligence services to brands, suppliers and financial investors. Its client list includes Accenture, Acxiom, Adobe, Cognizant, eBay Enterprise, Epsilon, Facebook, Omnicom, Paypal, and Time-Warner.
Ping has been running his own consultancy since stepping down from Fuel in July 2018, as well as holding a number of non-executive roles. At Winterberry, his responsibility covers clients and delivery across EMEA.
He started his career at the Financial Times before moving to the Guardian News & Media, ultimately becoming head of CRM. He then had spent four years at Communisis before joining Fuel in 2012.
Ping also sits on the DM Commission, the Data Protection Network Advisory Board, and has been a non-executive director of the Advertising Standards Board of Finance since 2004. He was also chairman of the DMA between 2004 and 2006.
