Proximity poaches VCCP Me chief

Proximity poaches VCCP Me chiefProximity London has beefed up its strategy team by luring VCCP Me’s head of communications planning Nick Baker to be planning director.
Baker, who started his career at RMG Connect (now JWT) and has had spells at WDMP and Sapient Nitro, will join Proximity in January. He has been at VCCP Me (formerly Stephens Francis Whitson) since 2012 and worked on More Th>n and Channel 4.
At Proximity, Baker will work on the Lloyds Bank and Bank of Scotland business, reporting to Darren Burnett, who runs the Proximity London planning department with Adrian Hoole.
Hoole and Burnett were promoted in June last year as part of a raft of changes which saw client services director Sharon Whale become deputy chairman, Gabrielle Moss move up to managing director, and the appointments of Havas EHS data chief Amanda Arthur as well as customer experience director Richard Wand from Possible.
Burnett said: “Nick is an award-winning planner and incisive thinker with exactly the approach we’re looking for.
“I’m confident he’ll be playing a key role as we work with Lloyds Banking Group to bring their incredible portfolio of brands to life for their customers in every interaction.
“We were immediately struck by Nick’s enthusiasm for transforming customer data and insight into striking, behaviour changing propositions. Proximity gives him the platform to develop his natural talent to the full.”
