Rapp awards md role to Perkins

Rapp UK has handed managing partner John Perkins the post of managing director of the agency; a role which has effectively been vacant since late last year when Sam Nolan was promoted to chief client officer.
Perkins has been at Rapp virtually his whole career, joining in 1996. He was promoted to managing partner in 2007 and joined the agency’s executive board last year.
In this role Perkins has spearheaded the growth of Rapp’s healthcare division, which has clients including GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, SCA and Bayer. He has also been responsible for bringing in substantial new business, such as the global Phillips account and most recently the £10m global digital Akzo Nobel (Dulux) brief.
Perkins will now be responsible for the day-to-day running of the agency, reporting to Nolan and working alongside chief creative officer Rik Haslam and customer experience director Gavin Hilton. Ultimately, all report to Rapp UK chief executive Marco Scognamiglio.
Nolan said: “This promotion is a result of the role John has played in creating a real step change in the agency’s overall direction.”
Perkins added: “Our proposition as an agency is resonating strongly with the needs of our clients. We’re doing some exciting work with companies such as Virgin Media, Dulux and Bacardi.”
Last week, it emerged that former Rapp London chief executive Pete Mitchell had been appointed to head up Mediacom’s direct division in the UK, recently rebranded Mediacom Response.
