Paddy Power has boosted its marketing team by poaching Telefonica Global’s head of new business innovation to run its own marketing innovations team.
Sarah Ellis Davies has worked both client and agency side since starting her career at Red Bull as a brand manager. She then had spells at TBWA, Lowe, Goodby Silverstein & Partners and Agency Republic before switching to O2 as head of brand innovation projects.
Ellis Davies had been in her most recent role at Telefonica Global for 18 months. In her new role with Paddy Power, she will oversee the company’s marketing and brand strategies on new media channels and technologies.
She will also work with the bookmaker’s in-house innovation team to examine customer behaviour and product data to create new commercial opportunities.
“I am extremely excited by the innovation opportunity at Paddy Power; it is a brave and distinctive brand, loved by punters, and is ideally poised to lead innovation within the gambling industry,” Davies said.
Paddy Power chief marketing officer Gav Thompson added: “By looking at new ideas from the customers’ perspective, we are confident that Sarah will help the team unlock some different and exciting opportunities for us.”
