TMW hires recruitment chief

Tullo Marshall Warren has created a new role of recruitment manager, to overhaul the agency’s approach to attracting fresh talent.
It has appointed James Richardson, who joins from AKQA where he acted in a similar capacity across various divisions including technology, mobile and user experience.
In his new role, Richardson will ensure comprehensive candidate briefs are developed for every recruit, work with the agency’s preferred suppliers from co-ordinating the interview process, managing all feedback and supporting line managers through the interview process.
He will also manage the offer stage through to formal appointment and, once the new recruit is on board, he will ensure they participate in the induction programme.
The idea is to ensure a consistent, professional and seamless experience for potential new recruits through to their eventual appointment and their first few week’s induction.
TMW currently employees 270 staff and the agency expects to appoint between 40 and 60 per year.
TMW managing director Chris Freeland said: “Historically, recruitment has been very time consuming and piece meal. Moving forward we’re very keen to address this to ensure we have a more robust and effective solution in place for all our recruitment needs. James is implicit in making this happen. For the first time, we will have a standardised process in place to manage recruitment more smoothly as well as present a consistent and professional face on behalf of the agency to all candidates, making their experience of TMW an extremely positive one.
“Recruitment is a significant annual cost, more specifically, paying commission and recruitment fees. We will be looking to James to ensure we continue to get the best out of our agency partners while also drawing on his network of contacts that he has built up over the years, in turn helping to reduce our recruitment costs.”
Richardson added: “I’m delighted to have joined an award–winning agency that is committed to putting a greater emphasis on the people that it employs. By reviewing and refining the current processes, TMW will continue to ensure that only the most suitable and talented individuals work at the agency.”
