Direct marketing solutions specialist Communication Avenue has strengthened its senior team in a bid to accelerate its business growth, confirming the appointment of Richard Tomlinson as managing director as well as hiring Jo Howard as its first marketing director.
Tomlinson, who has been working as a consultant for the company since April, has been charged with implementing the business strategy he has been working on for the past five months. He has over 20 years’ experience in the marketing services industry, having spent 18 years at Experian and more recently as sales director at Callcredit.
Meanwhile, Howard joins from Experian, where she was most recently director of marketing and product development of the company’s business information division.
While at Experian, she spearheaded all marketing output, product development strategies, internal and external communications and delivered a four-year rolling strategy, managing a team of 30.
In her new role, Howard will be responsible for aiding Tomlinson in the delivery of the new strategic direction for the business.
The new strategy focuses on growing the business by concentrating on large enterprises, developing relationships with more agencies and partners and boosting the account management team in order to maintain a high client retention rate.
Tomlinson is also introducing what the business describes as “a client-centric lens”, in which every team – from operations through to sales – will become aligned with clients’ objectives and are committed to service excellence.
Communication Avenue chief executive Phil Lightfoot (pictured) said: “I am delighted to welcome Richard and Jo to the team. We are in a really exciting place and with their experience, vision and leadership I know that in three years’ time we will have achieved all our objectives and be ready for the next phase of development. We are an ambitious company and Richard and Jo fit right in.”
