VW insider nets top marketing job

VW insider nets top marketing jobVolkswagen has promoted its national communications manager Kirsten Stagg – who joined the car maker in 1998 as a graduate trainee – to be its new head of marketing for the commercial vehicle division.
Stagg will report directly to Alex Smith, director of VW Commercial Vehicles, and will be responsible for spearheading the brand’s marketing activities in the UK.
She succeeds Mark Hopkins, who joined Kia Motors UK earlier this year. Adam & Eve runs the division’s advertising account.
Since joining VW, Stagg has progressed through the organisation, holding marketing roles at Škoda, Audi and most recently Volkswagen Passenger Cars, where she orchestrated recent Woofwagen range campaign. She was also responsible for the development and introduction of VW’s social media strategy, which has since seen the brand’s Facebook page become the number one automotive community in the UK.
Smith said: “I have no doubt Kirsten’s exceptional experience will help drive our brand forward. We have just celebrated a record year in the UK and consolidated our strong position in the light commercial vehicle market; this is an exciting time to join the brand.”
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles celebrated a record-breaking 2013 with annual new vehicle registrations of 37,267 – up 19.4% from 31,207 in 2012. The brand also increased its market share to a record high of 13.4% (12.6% in 2012), strengthening its number two position in the light commercial vehicles sector.
