Busty feels the heat at the ‘hot, hot, hot’ summer lunch

busty idol“Me mind on fire, Me soul on fire, Feeling hot hot hot. Party people, All around me feeling hot hot hot.” That’s right folks it was the Alternative Summer Lunch this week and my god everyone was feeling hot, hot, hot.
Luckily, Rogered Rog took one look at the EasyHotel and relocated us to his suite in the London Hilton, and oh what fun we had. All the gang were there, of course, including Calamity Clive, The Man with the Golden Tongue, Maurading Mike and Dropshadow Dicky.
We partied hard, and as the song goes, “So we go rum-bum-bum-bum. Yeah we rum-bum-bum-bum. Feeling hot hot hot…Feeling hot hot hot – oh Lord.” Still at least we had air conditioning.
I thought that I was exhausted until I made it to the DMA Summer Lunch after-party, where most of their guests were literally on their knees, although more through heat stroke than by choice.
In fact, the poor Granby girls were nearly passing out (well, you don’t get much sunshine up in Blackburn, you know) and left almost as soon as I got there to go back to the frozen North. Maybe it was something my esteemed boss had said to them…it normally is.
Thing is, the after-party was actually quite a subdued affair; maybe no-one could afford to go to the pub after shelling out up to £300 a ticket for lunch in a boiling hot tent.
Apparently there was a splinter group who went to the Kensington Roof Gardens – with flamingos and everything – but I haven’t been back there since my incident in the toilets back in 2012.
Still, as ever, I followed the mantra of “any port in a storm” and spent most of the evening with the DMA team, including their very own 007, OK, not quite James Bond but the next best thing at that event, Tim Bond. Even Ed “short story champion” Owen made an appearance, despite Wimbledon being on, as well as “PR to the stars”, Acuity’s Ian ‘George Clooney’ McCawley.
We made a handsome foursome, that’s for sure. I couldn’t quite make out whether they were after a bit of “rum-bum-bum-bum” too but they certainly know how to treat a lady, plying me with drinks all night and a even a bowl of chips.
Sadly I had to leave early when I got a message to go and rescue old McKelvey, who had been spotted staggering around Traitor’s Gate, wearing someone else’s boater. The things I do for that man…
