Busty signs up to women’s lib

BustyMe and my big gob. Not that I’ve got loose lips, you understand – there are a few of you who will no doubt testify to that – it’s just that my mouth does get little ol’ Busty into a lorra, lorra trouble sometimes.
No sooner had I doubted the joys of a night out in Blackburn in last week’s column, than I was inundated with emails from the girls at Granby Marketing Services promising to show me where it all goes down in the Lancashire town.
And let me tell you, they sure do “passionately believe in delivering support through intelligent handling and fulfilment”, as their company mantra promises.
Obviously, this being a family publication, I can’t really go into the ins and outs of the evening, but Suzanne and the girls made sure I had one of the best nights out I’ve ever had, which even culminated in me recognising the joys of the, er, Spread Eagle.
Not that I’m the only one whose gob has got them into trouble this week. Adland is all-a-flutter after Grey’s newly promoted chairman Nils Leonard had the audacity to claim that women make the best creative directors. Go girl.
Not that fellas don’t have their place – usually making the tea and going to the shop to get the cakes and biccies – but apparently ol’ Nils has sparked uproar, and not just among the blokes either. Some of the sisterhood have found it sexist and patronising.
Now I’ve never considered myself as a member of the burn your bra brigade (you wanna carry around these 38DDs without support) but according to Caitlin Moran’s definition – a) Do you have a vagina? and b) Do you want to be in charge of it? If you said ‘yes’ to both, then congratulations! You’re a feminist.” – well, I am one then.
So, come on girls, what’s the problem with being proud about our achievements? After all, there are plenty of blokes in the marketing and advertising industry who can’t wait to tell you a) how good looking they are b) how successful they are and c) how much money they earn, so isn’t it about time us girls got our revenge?
